Two-thirds of pregnant women often have the feeling that “the air is not enough for them.” This is due to increased levels of progesterone which accelerates respiration. During the last quarter, breathing difficulties are also due to the enlarged uterus which presses the diaphragm and lungs. Your breathing will improve as you adapt to the new conditions.
How can you help yourself:
- Do not panic if you feel that your breath is not enough. Relax and avoid stress.
- Straighten the body and your chest and not slouching.
- If by any chance you experience sudden chest pain, difficulty in breathing, and your lips and fingers become blue, seek medical advice immediately.
