Predisposing factors are treated and this may include stopping smoking, reducing blood pressure and improving nutrition. Rest in bed for part of the day may be helpful. Women are asked to note the baby’s movements and report if the movements are slow or less than 10 are felt in 24 hours, although this is only a rough guide because many women find it difficult to be accurate about movements.
