Our Philosophy of care

Childbirth is a profound experience that carries significant meaning to a woman and her family during this time and is remembered for the rest of her life. Having a baby is a normal physiological process for most women and in our practice we aim to support and empower our clients to make well considered, safe choices regarding the care of themselves and their babies. We understand that caring for women holistically ensures the service delivered to each woman is unique to her particular personal wishes and medical needs.

A care plan begins at the first appointment in our office and together this ‘plan’ unfolds throughout the months leading up to the birth of her baby and afterwards. Underpinning this strategy are safe managements. This means that care provided, is at all times, conducted under a safe framework. This can be offered using up to date research based medical and midwifery scientific evidence, as applied in North Europe and USA. These principles of practice will support and address those cases where the pregnancy could deviate from normal and will need closer medical care or in the case a complication of childbirth that would justify medical intervention.

Additionally Dr. Michael Lazanakis and Fiona McIntosh combine their professional knowledge and clinical experience to bring together optimal care which incorporate positive birth experiences for each couple. It is professionally understood that good support and preparation makes a real difference that leads to positive safe outcomes.

Our primary goal is to support the woman and her partner to achieve a positive birth experience of their baby, under the discrete but close medical supervision that will ascertain security and safety.
